Service Description

Technology has changed our world. During the pandemic, many businesses closed because they could not integrate technology into their business model. However, several new businesses opened online. Parents became educators. Unfortunately, some parents did not have the necessary digital literacy skills to operate in a digital classroom. The Resource Center's mission is to help adults and teens obtain the knowledge and the ability to use technology tools for a variety of purposes including enhancing their careers (Mantiri, Hibbert, & Jacobs, 2019). Digital literacy is the ability to use and create technology-based content, including finding and sharing information, answering questions, and interacting with others, and using computer programming (Widona, 2020). The Resource Center helps adults and teens use technology to complete cognitive, sociological, and emotional skills so they can function effectively in digital environments (Eshet-Alkalai, 2004). Our curriculum is aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and it is research-based. We teach adults and teens how to: Digital Design and Media Production Digital Communication in the 21st Century Digital Video and Audio Design Web Design Complete research projects for employers or school Enable critical, creative, and safe practices with digital technologies Avoid copyright issues when working on projects, writing, and conducting research.
